Common Questions
Here are answers to the most common questions we receive about plot donations (click-to-expand style).
Can I donate a plot from a cemetery I no longer live near?
Yes. You do not need to be local to the cemetery to complete the donation. Everything can be handled remotely by mail.
What is a Deed of Transfer?
Also called a deed of gift or title transfer, it’s the document used to legally transfer ownership of the plot from you to Pierced Forever Foundation. It’s provided by the cemetery and must be signed by you before sending it to us.
What if I don’t have the deed in hand?
That’s completely fine. The cemetery prepares the Deed of Transfer for you. You only need to request it — you don’t need any prior paperwork.
Can I donate on behalf of someone else or as part of an estate?
Yes, as long as you are the legal owner or authorized to act on behalf of the estate, you may donate. Just note the relationship in the form’s comment section.
How do I know you received my deed?
You’ll receive a confirmation once your deed arrives, so you know it’s been safely received and is being processed.
Do I still need to fill out the donation form if I mailed the deed?
Yes. The form allows us to match your deed to your contact information, log your donation, and issue your receipt. Please complete it even if you’ve already mailed the deed.
What happens if the name on the deed is different from mine?
If the deed is under a spouse, parent, or other family member, please explain the relationship in the comments section of the form so we can correctly verify and process the donation.
Can I donate plots in a cemetery that has merged or changed names?
Yes. If the cemetery has changed names or ownership, your donation is still valid. Just enter the most current information you have on the form, and your cemetery will confirm the details during the transfer.
Can I donate more than one plot at once?
Yes. We accept single and multiple plot donations. Just be sure to include details for each plot in your form submission.
Can I donate a plot that’s partially used or already reserved?
No. We only accept unused, unoccupied plots. Your cemetery can confirm the current status of your space.
Are there any costs or transfer fees involved?
Some cemeteries charge a title transfer fee, which is usually between $100 and $500. If your cemetery charges a fee, it is your responsibility as the donor to cover it.
