What to Ask Your Cemetery

Use this page while calling the cemetery.

The goal is simple: find out if your burial plot can be transferred to Pierced Forever Foundation and what the cemetery needs next.

Before You Call

Before You CallTry to have whatever information you can find:
  • Cemetery name
  • Name of the person listed on the plot
  • Section, lot, grave, or plot number
  • Any deed, certificate, or cemetery paperwork
If you do not have all of this, still call. The cemetery may be able to look it up by name.

What to Say

“Hi, I have a burial plot I may want to donate to Pierced Forever Foundation. Can you tell me if this plot can be transferred to a nonprofit?”

If the plot belonged to someone who passed away, say:
“The plot may have belonged to a family member who passed away. Can you tell me what documents are needed before it can be transferred?”

If they ask for our information, give them:

Pierced Forever Foundation
30850 Telegraph Rd, Ste 250
Bingham Farms, MI 48025

Questions to Ask

“Is the plot unused?”
“Who is listed as the current owner?”
“Can this plot be transferred to Pierced Forever Foundation?”
“Do you allow transfers to a nonprofit?”
“What forms are required?”
“Who needs to sign?”
“Are there any transfer or administrative fees?”
“Would the cemetery consider waiving or reducing the fee since this is being donated to a nonprofit?”
“Does anything need to be notarized?”
“Does Pierced Forever Foundation need to sign anything?”
“Where should the completed forms be sent?”

After the Call
If the cemetery says the plot can be transferred, ask them to prepare the required paperwork.

If they need Pierced Forever Foundation to sign anything, the cemetery or donor can send it to us.

If they need more documents from you first, gather those before moving forward.

Once you have the basic answers, complete the Plot Donation Form on the Donate a Burial Plot page.

Main Reminder

The cemetery controls the transfer process.

Pierced Forever Foundation can receive the donated plot, sign anything required from us, and provide a donation receipt after the cemetery transfer is complete.
